Where the happy vegetables grow
Shipula Farms started in Jamestown, PA in 1971 as a continuation of the family farm in Elyria, Ohio. In 2008, we decided to take our vegetables from the back of a pickup truck to the farm stands and markets around the local area.
Happy vegetables are created solely in the way that they are grown. We take pride in specifically planting, and picking, our crops by hand so our vegetables are treated with the best care. These varieties have high yields, are strong in disease resistance, and the most flavorful you can find. Not only do we purchase high-quality seeds, constantly seeking better varieties through catalogues and agricultural conventions, but we also insist on using some of the best soil around. The flavor of your vegetables is in the dirt and soil used. While we do use high-tunnels and greenhouses, everything is planted in dirt in the fields at Lago Winery where loam soil is used to grow an original crop that’s flavor is unique to Shipula Farm. This soil allows our crop to grow faster, healthier, and easier for us to harvest and provide to you.
Plus our farmer, Larry, is a member of the Pennsylvania Vegetable Growers Association and PA Preferred.
It’s the people of this community that have made us what we are today. From Jamestown, PA to Howland, OH, our customers are the reason we do this every year. We love talking to you about our vegetables, sharing recipes, and reminiscing out the good Ole days. We look forward to opening up the stands and seeing you.
